Inspired by Youth: Introducing Youth Express – A Platform for South Africa’s Next Generation in 2026

Inspired. That is exactly how the founder, Melini Moses, and I felt when we first spoke about creating a digital space for young people. Those early conversations were inspired by our shared belief that youth deserve a platform that speaks to them honestly, creatively, and meaningfully.

For almost a decade, Melini has been communicating, experimenting, and building around her passion for accelerating youth development — so it felt natural that she would channel her journalism expertise into launching Youth Express.

An inspired moment

My name is Tasnim Langry, and I will perform the task of Editor for this exciting new project. My role is not only to shape its voice, but to also ensure that Youth Express is visually engaging, accessible, and compelling — so that young people searching for motivation, guidance, and inspiration feel inspired to stay, explore, and connect with our content.

If you are completing school, studying at university, working your first job, or navigating early adulthood — and you identify as youth — then you are visiting a site that was created especially for you.

A Journalism Career Focused on Youth

As a former mainstream print journalist, my career has been motivated by young people and their stories. Much of my education-based reporting focused on understanding the realities of youth, amplifying their voices, and finding ways — through storytelling — to keep them inspired and motivated.

I firmly believe that the future success of South Africa rests in the hands of the next generation: those inspired individuals who aspire to become lawyers, entrepreneurs, reporters, chefs, innovators, creatives, and even dedicated home-makers.

At Youth Express, we want every reader to feel seen, represented, and included in our well-researched articles featuring leaders across the country.

Redefining What Leadership Looks Like

When we speak about “leaders,” we are inspired by more than just public figures. We are also referring to the quiet changemakers — those who lead, manage, and empower from behind the scenes.

We are inspired by people who act rather than announce; who move with purpose rather than publicity. Through Youth Express, we aim to spotlight those who are inspired by a mission, committed to impact, and determined to turn their dreams into reality.

From Conversations to Action

Melini and I are long-time friends in journalism, united by a shared commitment to truth — especially when it is difficult to find. We were inspired by our own discussions about Youth Express, and eventually decided to stop talking and start building.

Melini graciously appointed me as Editor, and I am deeply inspired and honoured to carry forward the baton of motivation, integrity, and storytelling for young South Africans.

Our Growing Team

Right now, our team is small — but we are inspired by the potential to grow. We hope to cultivate a strong community of writers, creatives, and content contributors who are equally inspired to share their insights.

While we build that network, Melini, myself, and a few talented freelance content creators will keep the vision of Youth Express alive and thriving.
