Damatria is the first of many young people we celebrate as we observe Youth Month in Mzansi for the entire month of June with everything that can inspire young people
In a world where social media trends often disappear overnight, 22-year-old Damatria Nitntili has managed to build something far more meaningful — a platform rooted in truth, empowerment, education, and hope. The young South African content creator has become one of the relatable voices for youth navigating the realities of university life, identity, financial challenges, and social change.
For many young people scrolling through TikTok, Damatria, who lives in Gauteng, is more than just another influencer. She represents resilience, intelligence, and the courage to speak openly about issues that many young South Africans silently battle every day.

Damatria’s Journey Began With Advocacy and Purpose
Before becoming recognized online, Damatria was already passionate about creating change. Her journey into advocacy began during high school after attending a climate change workshop introduced by her English teacher. That moment sparked a deep interest in policy reform, climate change awareness, and youth empowerment.
Today, Damatria is a student at the University of the Witwatersrand, where she continues to pursue her academic dreams while balancing content creation and leadership responsibilities.
What makes Damatria relatable is her honesty about the challenges she faces as a missing-middle student in South Africa. By openly discussing financial barriers and the realities of accessing higher education, Damatria created a safe online space where many students finally felt seen and understood.

Damatria Represents the Beauty of South African Diversity
Growing up as a young woman who is half Indian and half Xhosa, Damatria developed a unique understanding of South Africa’s diverse cultures and identities. Her experiences shaped her worldview and strengthened her desire to advocate for inclusion, representation, and equality.
One of Damatria’s first viral moments came when she openly spoke about her mixed-race identity online. The conversation resonated deeply with South Africans and sparked meaningful discussions around race, identity, and belonging in the Rainbow Nation.
Through her platform, Damatria continues encouraging young people to embrace who they are while appreciating the diversity that makes South Africa so unique.

Damatria Wants Young People to Feel Seen and Heard
For Damatria, youth empowerment is not simply a content niche — it is her mission.
She understands the pressure many young people face in modern South Africa, especially while dealing with unemployment, mental health struggles, economic instability, and limited opportunities. Rather than contributing to negativity, Damatria uses her voice to motivate young people to continue believing in themselves and their future.
Her message is simple but powerful:
. . . young people are capable, intelligent, and deserving of opportunities.

Balancing Academics, Leadership and Content Creation
Behind every video and motivational message is a hardworking university student trying to balance multiple responsibilities. Like many students, Damatria has faced moments of exhaustion and uncertainty while managing academics, leadership roles, personal challenges, and content creation.
However, she continues pushing forward by remembering the impact her platform has on young people who need encouragement.
Inspired by influential women such as Amanda Gorman, Kamala Harris, Shudufhadzo Musida, and Tamaryn Green, Nitntili hopes to continue creating meaningful impact within leadership, policy, and advocacy spaces.
