Who should apply

This opportunity is a great fit for psychology students considering their Honours or a Master’s in 2027. Starting your volunteer journey now can be a valuable opportunity to gain practical experience in telephone counselling, strengthen your listening and counselling skills, and become part of a team making a meaningful difference in people’s lives.

Reference letters for volunteers

SADAG’s criteria for providing a reference letter is that volunteers need to be working on a permanent shift for between 6 and 12 months. Starting your training with this October intake gives you the opportunity to begin building that experience before applications for further studies next year.

The next volunteer training intake will only take place at the beginning of 2027, so don’t wait!
