Southern Africa’s industrial future will take centre stage later this month as SADC Industrialization Week 2026 brings together governments, investors, businesses and development partners in Durban. The annual event, taking place from 27 to 31 July at the Durban International Convention Centre, is expected to reinforce regional cooperation while creating new opportunities for investment, innovation and economic transformation.

Focus on Regional Industrialization and Investment

Hosted by the South African Government in partnership with the SADC Business Council and the SADC Secretariat, the gathering serves as the region’s leading public-private platform for industrial development. It also acts as a precursor to the 46th SADC Summit of Heads of State and Government, placing economic growth firmly on the regional agenda.

This year’s theme, “Resilient, Sustainable and Inclusive Industrialization through Infrastructure Development, Agricultural and Critical Minerals Transformation in Pursuit of a Just World,” reflects the region’s commitment to building stronger economies through collaboration, sustainable development and modern infrastructure.

Value Chains and Economic Integration

The programme aligns with the SADC Industrialization Strategy and Roadmap (2015–2063), which focuses on industrialization, competitiveness and regional integration. Delegates will discuss strengthening regional value chains across sectors such as agro-processing, pharmaceuticals, consumer goods and critical minerals beneficiation.

Infrastructure development will also feature prominently, with discussions covering energy, transport, logistics, water and information and communication technology. These sectors are widely recognized as essential for supporting industrial expansion and improving trade throughout Southern Africa.

SADC Creates Opportunities for Youth and Business

Beyond policy discussions, the event will include workshops, technical sessions, seminars and stakeholder engagements designed to encourage practical solutions. A strong emphasis will be placed on investment mobilisation, industrial partnerships, digital transformation, innovation, entrepreneurship, and empowering women and young people to participate in the region’s economic future.

As Chair of SADC, South Africa continues to champion regional cooperation that promotes job creation, industrial development and shared prosperity. By bringing together policymakers, researchers, financial institutions and private sector leaders, SADC Industrialization Week aims to translate strategic planning into tangible action, strengthening the region’s resilience while unlocking long-term opportunities for sustainable and inclusive economic growth.
